Cruelty Case Specialist for China

Position Objective:

To initiate, execute, and oversee PETA's cruelty-case work and legislative efforts

Campaigns Manager

Location:

Manila, Philippines (Campaigns headquarters)

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of various projects designed to educate citizens and officials about animal issues
  • Approach, motivate, and assist individuals regarding the initiation of legislative efforts in behalf of animals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with officials and legislators in countries and jurisdictions that have passed or are considering or trying to pass legislation affecting animals
  • Correspond and dialog with members of the public, governments, and companies on various animal protection issues and cruelty cases
  • Draft letters on various cases and projects
  • Assess animal abuse situations reported to PETA and identified in the media, and act in behalf of the animal(s) involved in order to alleviate the situation and/or obtain justice
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated extensive working knowledge of the legislative process
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining professional relationships
  • Knowledge of animal care and animal protection laws
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally deliver arguments and to address and overcome objections
  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth research and handle many issues simultaneously
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to make sound, independent judgments without direct supervision
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegetarian lifestyle
  • Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
