Youth Outreach and Online Marketing Coordinator (PETA Australia)

Position Objectives:

  • To organise and staff tabling displays at concerts, festivals, schools and other events
  • To promote animal rights through online resources
  • To perform other duties related to PETA Australia's youth outreach initiatives

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain a calendar of upcoming festivals, concerts and other events, and obtain permission from organisers to set up PETA Australia literature tables during events
  • Work with students to promote an animal rights presence on campuses
  • Distribute literature, including leaflets, stickers, comic books and DVDs, to the public during events
  • Submit daily reports to the supervisor and others detailing show attendance, literature inventory and other information
  • Transfer literature shipments to activists, as needed
  • Represent PETA Australia to the general public
  • Develop and manage all aspects of the complex and diverse online marketing projects that promote PETA Australia's mission
  • Maintain a youth-focused celebrity agenda and work to get celebrities to take action for animals
  • Write and edit animal rights–related Web features and other online content
  • Create and carry out marketing plans
  • Track and analyse Web traffic and the success of online campaigns and make changes in strategy accordingly
  • Research and explore new promotional possibilities and internet technologies
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor


  • Online marketing and activist experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Proven interest in and excellent working knowledge of the Internet
  • Extensive knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA Australia campaigns
  • Proven ability to conduct and analyse marketing research
  • Proven excellent project management, strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Sophisticated understanding of and appreciation for creative work
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Outgoing, energetic and personable manner
  • Ability and willingness to communicate well with a variety of people
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent judgments and decisions
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle preferred
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Support for PETA Australia's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA Australia's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of PETA Australia
