Activist Liaison

Position Objectives:

To spearhead activist campaigns, to work with activists to increase the effectiveness and frequency of their activism, and to develop deeper commitments to animal rights issues and PETA

Reports to:

Campaigns Manager

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Encourage and facilitate activism across Asia and the Pacific region
  • Communicate with activists across the region, encouraging them to be active in behalf of animals
  • Maintain and improve relationships with activists through frequent communication, by offering advice and support, and by brainstorming tactics and goals
  • Supervise interactions between media outlets and local activists, including helping activists pitch stories, conduct interviews, prepare news releases, etc.
  • Assist with the development of activist organizations in areas lacking leadership in order to strengthen PETA's Activist Network
  • Provide guidance for activists who need assistance with local development of PETA campaigns
  • Assist local activists with their own campaigns
  • Assist with other campaigns and work on special projects, as needed
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor


  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to direct grassroots animal rights campaigns
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues required
  • Outgoing and personable manner and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments and decisions
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Ability to maintain patience while working with activists
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
