PENTHOUSE PET OF THE YEAR LAYS DOWN THE LAW IN SEXY NEW PETA AD: 'DON'T WEAR FUR'!
'Officer' Kobe Kaige Warns, 'Touch the Buns and You're Busted'
For Immediate Release:
2 February 2009
Melbourne -- Decked out in a sexy police outfit and next to two little rabbits and the tagline "Touch the Buns and You're Busted -- Don't Wear Fur", Australian Penthouse Pet of the Year 2008 Kobe Kaige appears in a brand-new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia-Pacific. Kobe's point? That fur belongs only on its original owners and that killing animals and wearing their pelts is not a "fashion statement". The stunning ad was shot by Andrew K; the stylist was Mandi Chambers. The ad can be seen on PETA's website PETAAsiaPacific.com along with a video interview with Kobe.
"Anyone who has seen my spreads knows that I'll do just about anything for the camera -- anything except wear real fur, that is", says Kobe. "I'm proud of my body, and I enjoy showing it off, but wearing fur is something to be ashamed of."
Why do Kobe and PETA want her millions of admirers to keep their hands off the buns? Recently released undercover investigations at rabbit fur farms in France and China have revealed that animals there are confined to filthy cages, which are caked with urine and faeces. In video footage shot at the farms, rabbits twitch and shake after their throats are cut. Workers at the Chinese farm were videotaped pulling rabbits out of cages by their ears and stunning them with handheld electrical devices while the animals screamed.
On fur farms, animals spend their entire lives in tiny, filthy cages and suffer physical and psychological distress before their necks are broken or they are killed with poison or anal or vaginal electrocution. In China -- the world's leading fur exporter -- animals on fur farms are commonly skinned alive, sometimes while they are still conscious. Millions of dogs and cats are killed in China for the international fur trade.
In addition to being crowned 2008's Australian Penthouse Pet of the Year and featured twice as Pet of the Month, Kobe has graced the covers and pages of dozens of magazines, including Playboy, FHM, Stoke MX and Maxim.
