TOP MODEL AMBER CHIA STRIPS DOWN TO HER STRIPES FOR NEW PETA ANTI-ZOO AD

Reporters and Photographers Invited to Sneak Peek of Photo Shoot

What:          Malaysian cover model Amber Chia will pose for an eye-catching new anti-captivity ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia on Saturday. The fresh--faced beauty -- who has graced the pages of Harper's Bazaar, FHM, Playboy and NuYou -- will wear body-painted tiger stripes and appear in a jungle setting next to the tagline "Keep Wild Animals Free: Boycott the Zoo". The ad will run in Japan, Thailand, Germany, the US and Korea later this year. The ad will be shot by ace photographer Aaron Lee, while make--up and hair will be done by Shahnaz Baharuden. Members of the media are invited to take their own photos during the shoot.

Chia, whose career has taken her from modelling to television to Chinese films (she has appeared in The 3rd Generation and Trio & a Bed) has a soft spot for animals. "Tigers, elephants and chimpanzees aren't meant to live fenced in any more than I am", says Chia. "The born free should stay free."

Animals in zoos are sentenced to a lifetime of boredom, loneliness and abuse -- conditions that often lead to self-mutilation and other abnormal and self-destructive behaviour. Even the biggest zoos cannot provide the space, exercise, privacy or mental stimulation that the animals they imprison need, much less fulfil animals' other complex needs.

A light lunch generously provided by Kechara Oasis New Age Vegetarian Restaurant will be served after the shoot.

When:          Saturday, 24 October, 12:45 pm

Where:        Myth Studio, 22A - I Jalan PJU7/16 Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur
